Safety Policies and Best Practices

At The Traveling Cougars, guest safety, comfort, and mutual respect are top priorities. These policies are designed to promote a secure and enjoyable experience for all participants and apply to every group travel experience organized under our brand.

Definitions

For the purposes of this policy, the terms “guest,” “participant,” and “Cougar” refer to any individual officially registered for a group trip with The Traveling Cougars.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend all guests obtain comprehensive travel insurance that includes medical coverage, trip cancellation or interruption, and protection for lost, stolen, or delayed baggage. Insurance is not mandatory but is highly advisable to protect against unexpected events.

Accommodation and Roommate Matching

Solo travelers may opt for roommate matching or pay an additional single supplement fee for private accommodations. While we strive to match guests based on compatibility and preferences, we cannot guarantee complete alignment. Courtesy and cooperation are expected from all parties sharing a room.

Behavior and Alcohol Use

Guests are expected to maintain respectful, responsible conduct at all times. Excessive alcohol consumption, harassment, disruptive behavior, or violation of personal boundaries will not be tolerated. The group leader or designated trip coordinator reserves the right to take appropriate action, including restricting participation in group activities or removing a guest from the trip, if necessary.

Local Laws and Cultural Respect

Participants are required to comply with all laws, regulations, and cultural customs of the countries visited. This includes observing local dress codes, respecting religious and historical sites, and maintaining culturally appropriate conduct. Guests who fail to follow local laws may be subject to legal consequences and removal from the group itinerary.

Buddy System and Personal Safety

Guests are encouraged to travel in pairs or groups, particularly during free time or independent exploration. This buddy system enhances both personal safety and social connection.

Emergency Procedures

Each trip includes a group safety briefing covering emergency protocols, including responses to medical issues, severe weather, political unrest, or other unforeseen disruptions. Local emergency contact information will be provided. Guests are expected to follow the instructions of trip leaders and local authorities in such situations.

Health and Disease Guidelines

The Traveling Cougars follows all applicable public health guidelines, including regulations related to COVID-19 and other communicable diseases. Proof of vaccination, testing, or other health documentation may be required in accordance with government or destination-specific policies.

Disclaimer of Liability

The Traveling Cougars is not liable for personal injury, illness, property damage, theft, delays, or any losses incurred during travel. Participation in any activity—whether organized by the group or undertaken independently—is entirely voluntary and at the participant’s own risk.

Policy Acknowledgment

All participants will be required to review and acknowledge these safety policies prior to departure. By registering for and attending a Traveling Cougars trip, guests affirm that they understand and accept these terms as a condition of participation.
